Would you please look for the works of Tim Powers, I would really appreciate it.
He writes speculative, science and fantasy fiction, such as "The Anubis Gates", "The Stress of Her Regard", "Declare", "The Drawing of the Dark", "On Stranger Tides", "Last Call" and others.
