Unfortunately, today when I turned on my computer, I discovered that the external hard drive had failed.
I lost 5 TB of data containing over 1,500 authors that I had collected over all these years.
The plan for the immediate period was to start posting new authors (more than 2,000 of them) and to list updates for those already existing on the forum at this moment.
That plan will be put on standby for now. I’m trying to save some money to purchase a new 22 TB WesternDigital external hard drive, while also trying to recover the authors I lost.
In the end, I will solve it one way or another, but please be patient.

Ugh. So sorry.
I try to save all my stuff in two separate locations to avoid just this. But then my collection is rather smaller than yours.
Take your time and try not to stress yourself.
You have created quite the place here, and all that work certainly is appreciated.

I lost 2 x 5TB full external drives last year - I cried with the first, shrugged with the 2nd.
This was the website where I replaced so much of what I had lost, which I can never thank enough.
Both were Western Digital drives.
If I can help in ANY way whatever, please just advise and I will help as best I can.
I have been known to have an HD posted to me, whereupon I filled it and returned it, in the past.
What I would say, is that upon losing the 2nd drive, I read a LOT about external drives.
The general consensus was that anything over 4TB wasn't reliable, and had a tendency to fail eventually.
I replaced my cold, dead drives with 4TB Western Digitals and a 4 port USB hub.
Mainly because my heart would break if I lost anything any bigger - the thought of losing 22TB is beyond my thinking. 😭😭😭
